REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE:
HB 1189 – Hill, M SB 1180 – Hensley PRIORITY BILL – OPPOSE
The “Tennessee Infants Protection Act,” which prohibits abortion of a viable fetus except in a medical emergency and requires testing to determine viability if a woman is at least 20 weeks pregnant. – Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 15, Part 2.
This is the only bill the Anti-Choice group (often referred to as the Right to Life) will be supporting. This will require work to defeat. Can be seen as an alternative to the Twenty Week bill by Rep. Weaver.
Bill was rolled on March 14 till March 21 in Full Health Committee.
Not sure what will happen on March 21, but beginning to work the Senate on this bill. Criminal language is getting cleaned up, as there is now a fiscal note on the bill with the thinking of the prosecution of one physician each year. This also will slow down the process.
Keep the letters coming on this one.
