2016 Women’s Day on the Hill
Local women’s groups join together to advocate for women and families
Nashville, Tenn. – The Women’s Political Collaborative of Tennessee will be joined by several other partnering organizations for the 2016 Women’s Day on the Hill on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.
This annual event is organized to create an opportunity for women in Tennessee to join forces and meet with members of the Tennessee General Assembly and discuss issues facing women in Tennessee. Individuals participating in the Women’s Day on the Hill will be encouraged to meet with their elected officials as well as prominent members of legislative committees. Participants will receive a complimentary breakfast as well as an orientation and overview of current legislation covering topics such as women’s rights, protection for victims of child abuse or neglect, domestic violence, family matters and health care.
“This annual event provides a unique opportunity for women to engage in the political process,” WPCTN president LoLita Toney said. “This year is especially important not only for our state but our country and we hope to make an impression on the elected officials serving the citizens of this state and ensure the voices of these organizations, and the causes they represent, are heard and recognized.”
Following the Day on the Hill activities the WPCTN will host a luncheon with a guest speaker Nashville Mayor Megan Barry. The luncheon event will be held at Waller Law offices, 511 Union Street 27th floor, and will begin at 12:00 p.m. The cost for the luncheon program is $20. Registration is available at www.wpctn.com.
