REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE:
HB 1189 – Hill, M SB 1180 – Hensley PRIORITY BILL – OPPOSE
The “Tennessee Infants Protection Act,” which prohibits abortion of a viable fetus except in a medical emergency and requires testing to determine viability if a woman is at least 20 weeks pregnant. – Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 15, Part 2.
This is the only bill the Anti-Choice group (often referred to as the Right to Life) will be supporting. This will require work to defeat. Can be seen as an alternative to the Twenty Week bill by Rep. Weaver.
This bill was rolled again until March 28 Health Committee Meeting. This will also coincide with the Anti-Choice Day on the Hill. An amendment was to be filed to clear up some “confusion” over the language of professional connect physicians. This maybe filed tomorrow ahead of the committee meeting Tuesday morning.

WOMEN’S HEALTH AS IT RELATES TO REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE:
HB 1320 – Stewart SB 883 – Harris SUPPORT
Health Care – As introduced, enacts the “Long-Acting Birth Control Information Act.” – Amends TCA Title 8; Title 63; Title 68 and Title 71. Deals with accessing Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives that may provide protection for up to twelve years.
This bill was rolled last week so now will be heard in Health Sub Committee on 3/29

DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE:
HB 349 – Farmer SB 554 – Ketron PRIORITY BILL – SUPPORT
Child Custody and Support – A priority bill for the Tn Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence, changes standard for when a court may terminate parental rights to a child who was conceived as the result of the parent’s rape of the mother from a criminal conviction to clear and convincing evidence that the rape occurred. – Amends TCA Title 36, Chapter 1, Part 1.

HB 434 – Ramsey SB 50 – Dickerson SUPPORT
Orders of Protection – Also a TCEDSV bill, requires a divorce court that modifies or makes an existing order of protection part of the divorce decree to issue a separate order of protection; requires the clerk to send a copy of the order to the petitioner, respondent, and the law enforcement agency. – Amends TCA Title 36, Chapter 3, Part 6.

HB 477 – Clemmons SB 1105 – Kyle PRIORTY BILL – SUPPORT
Employees, Employers – As introduced, enacts the “Tennessee Pay Equality Transparency Act.” – Amends TCA Title 50, provides more transparency as it allows disclosure of employee wages to other another employee without disciplinary action including discharge against employees.
Lily Ledbetter’s experience is the background on this bill.

Sex Discrimination – Tennessee Pay Equality Act ( this is a companion to SB1105) Amends Titles 50 and 4, requires that pay must be based on “Bona Fides” concept, seniority, tangible factors related to work.
